In 1950, Godert Vanderhart began a freight delivery business in the town of Pella, Iowa. On evenings
and Saturdays he moved families on the side. In 1970 the company began doing long distance moving, Godert incorporated the business to include his son Chuck, and son-in-law Gary Nibbelink. Unfortunately, the oil embargo of 1973 cut the life of the upstart moving company short, and Vanderhart Transfer was disbanded. However, the dream of a quality, family oriented, moving company lived on and Chuck continued on in the moving profession. In 1982 he began again, this time in Davenport, Iowa as Hawkeye Movers an agent for Atlas Van Lines. Today the company has established a reputation
for quality moving rooted in a strong family tradition. The third generation, Godert Vanderhart's grandchildren, Aaron, Shay, and Jon are contributing to exiting changes that will keep Hawkeye Movers on the cutting edge of innovative moving services.
